What are the A-Level Maths papers?

Paper 1 and Paper 2 are Pure Mathematics; Paper 3 is Statistics and Mechanics. All three are 2 hours, 100 marks, and a third of the qualification. Calculators are allowed throughout (scientific or graphical per your board's list), and formula booklets provide the standard identities.

Edexcel, AQA, and OCR (including OCR MEI) cover the same core content with different item styles — Edexcel leans procedural fluency, OCR MEI leans modelling. Past papers from your own board matter most in the final weeks.

How is A-Level Maths graded?

Grades run A* to E. An A* requires an A overall plus roughly 90% average across the A2-level papers; a typical A sits near 70-75% and boundaries shift a few percent yearly. Because each paper is equally weighted, one weak paper drags the grade hard.

What is on the A-Level Maths specification?

Pure: proof, algebra and functions, coordinate geometry, sequences and series, trigonometry, exponentials and logs, differentiation, integration, numerical methods, and vectors. Statistics: sampling, data presentation, probability, statistical distributions, and hypothesis testing with the large data set. Mechanics: kinematics, forces and Newton's laws, moments, and projectiles.
