The College Board weights the eight units as follows: limits and continuity (10-12%), differentiation definition and rules (10-12%), implicit and composite differentiation (9-13%), contextual applications like motion and related rates (10-15%), analytical applications including mean value and extrema (15-18%), integration and accumulation (17-20%), differential equations (6-12%), and applications of integration such as area and volume (10-15%).

Two FRQs are calculator-allowed and four are not, and at least one FRQ is always an analysis of functions graphically given a graph or table rather than a formula. Practising table-based and graph-based questions separately is the fastest score fix for most students.

How is the AP Calculus AB exam scored?

Each MCQ is worth one point with no penalty for guessing, and each FRQ is worth 9 points graded against a published rubric that awards points for setup, method, and answer separately. Your composite is curved against all test-takers; historically about 20-24% of students earn a 5 and a 4 needs roughly 55-60% of points.
